Due to us working from home, there are many more conference calls. I don’t know about you, but I can never find the conference code or pin when I actually need it and have to fumble around looking for it as my OWA crashes. Even when I am prepared, I am annoyed with the dialing of the number, long conference pin, and then some lines have a leader pin. Thanks to this trick, all that is a thing of the past.
Now, I set myself up for success by pre-typing the number and code to auto-dial. If the number is 800-555-5555 and the conference pin is 5024132132 and you have to hit a # after it, you can format it like this and your smart phone will do all the work for you.
8005555555,,5024132132#
The commas are read as pauses and will dial the conference code when prompted. My personal line has a leader pin as well so I do this:
8005555555,,5024132132#,,123456#
Just know, you have to do this ahead of time, because you can’t dial ,,’s from your phone pad. So, text this to yourself, email it, save as a contact, whatever else you think of. I have saved all the meetings I attend like this in my contacts and quickly dial-in without any issues. If you are going to save it as a contact, remember you can’t type commas in the phone number block. To get around this, type it out as above in the “notes” area and then copy it and paste it into the phone number area.
