Assumed fact, if most organizations weren’t doing 90% of the job right, they probably wouldn’t still be in business. However, they’ll spend 90% of the time focusing on the 10% of things that aren’t being done right or could be done better…we did it every day in aircraft maintenance. Why did 1 out of 10 aircraft take off late, why did 3 people miss appointments out of 1,000 appointments…etc. Not saying any of that is wrong, and fixing that 10% makes your organization even better, however, we have to remember, our teams see and hear this. If they don’t hear a little praise for the efforts in the 90% of what is right…you might see your numbers slip. Don’t forget to recognize the good stuff! That few minutes of recognition will go a long way with your teams!
