I can’t even begin to tell you all how many times I have thought about the first half of this African proverb. So many memories of me doing it myself so that I could do it my way or make sure it was done faster. Looking back as a SNCO, these were some of my dumbest moments. In each one, I can picture the person or persons I was neglecting whom I could have been training or mentoring. This is probably one of the biggest driving reasons behind my passion to mentor others now. When we go at it alone, we will never grow. The only way to success is as a team.
