Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of the Mexican Army’s victory over a much larger and stronger French contingent at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Had the French force won this battle, they would have marched on to aid the Confederacy in the Civil War and our nation would look much differently today. Although, most of us look at this as another opportunity to have a drink together (on most years), it is a great time to celebrate the victories of others and a reminder of how our histories are tied together.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
