“Thank you for your service!” These are words we have all heard as we stop to grab lunch, fill up the tank, or pick up the milk on the way home. These are the words that have turned many days around when I was carrying the emotional weight of a teammate in pain. These are the words written on a card that put some pep in my step as I was in month 5 of the deployment. These are the words every veteran and active member needs to hear to remind them of their sacrifice and that they are part of something much bigger than themselves. Having taken off the uniform for good, I have a much deeper appreciation of those who still wear it and those who came before me. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your service and appreciate all of the responsibility you carry for your unit and your team each and every day.
