Every morning I wake up and realize I don’t have to shave is just another day older I get as a Veteran and enjoy looking back at my time in the military. I remember one of the thoughts I had many times as I was serving was how much things must have changed over the years since I had served. I remember seeing Veterans wearing the “Proud Veteran” hats and I always wondered how they thought we were doing as a military. My hope was that they trusted me and everyone else currently serving…that we “had it” and we would continue the mission that they had laid the path for.
I have to admit, I often have those thoughts as I see the many changes and wonder how those folks are doing. You know what though…not much I can really do about it though. In 1998 I raised my right hand to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, served for 22 years and then retired. Now, young men and women are making that same decision today and raising their right hand to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. They are going to look at folks like me, wearing my hat, and wondering if I trust them…that they “have it”? I’m here to tell you today that I do trust them and thank all of them for their sacrifices. Continue to pave the path that many before you have paved…but blaze a new trail all your own! Thank you to all that have served but today all that all currently serving…thank you!
