Yes, I know that is a pretty vague question…and the answer can vary depending on what level of leadership you are in. I ask you that question for 2 reasons: 1) Do you really know the answer and 2) How do you find out the answer? If you don’t have a good answer for #2, then the answer for #1 is “No”.
There is so much we focus on, so much going on…and a lot of times your folks are telling you there is something wrong, you “hear” the words…but are you listening? Other times you see what you think is the problem…but are you digging into what is causing that problem? The answer to your questions is simple…and if you’ve read any of my posts you already know what it is…ask your people! Then give them the ability to help YOU make the organization better for THEM. I challenge you to do this…next time you have a mass gathering…don’t give them a briefing…let them brief you. Once they see you are willing to listen I bet you’ll be amazed at what you hear.
